4. Genetic background of the sire and dame is carefully evaluated with the aim of achieving the best of Havanese traits in each litter.

5. T-Wags breeding program includes the selected use of stud Champions Havanese owned by other breeders when needed to achieve genetic goals. (Stud fees are part of the costs of a high end breeding program.)

6. All T-Wags Havanese have complete and detailed health testing. T-Wags Havanese exceeds all the required testing of the Havanese Club of America.

7. Females are not bred before the age of two.

8. Females are not bred every heat cycle and females are retired from breeding at an appropriate age. T-Wags utilizes a veterinarian who is a breeding specialist who evaluates the females for breeding fitness over the productive life-cycle of all T-Wags females.

9. The T-Wags goal is to breed Havanese directly from champions (not champions who are generations removed). There are some exceptions to this in the breeding program to avoid any inbreeding and to ensure puppies with sound genetics. Championship means the Havanese have been judged the best of the Havanese breed in competition sanctioned by the AKC.  In these competitive events, T-Wags does utilize the paid services of professional Havanese Dog Handlers in selected AKC sanctioned competitive events.

10. No T-Wags Havanese are crated or placed in runs during the day. Crating is done only at night for sleeping. T-Wags Havanese adults and puppies live in a family environment. Both adults and puppies are played with and socialized to ensure well-adjusted dispositions.

11. Cleanliness and sanitation are top priorities in the breeding program. T-Wags maintains a strict routine of cleaning and sanitation of the dog environment.

12. Full time breeder status ensures time for the daily devotion, care and needed socialization of all T-Wags Havanese adults and puppies.

13. T-Wags environment is designed for the well being of the Havanese. The adults (and puppies when they are old enough) have a fenced environment in which to romp and play.

14. T-Wags primary veterinarian is well versed in the Havanese breed. Veterinary specialists at the University of Florida Small Animal Clinic are utilized when needed.

15. Health testing and vaccinations are done on a strict basis following the recommendations of both the Havanese Club of America and my primary veterinarian.
